Court in Amed sent 11 women to prison
Within the scope of the political police operations carried out by the Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor’s Office on 16 March, 25 women, including politicians and representatives of civil society organizations, were detained. While 7 of them were imprisoned by the court they were brought to on 18 March, 8 of them were released on condition of judicial control.
Sur Municipality co-mayor Filiz Buluttekin, Health and Social Service Workers Union (SES) Diyarbakır Branch Women Secretary Fatma Yıldızhan, United Transport Workers Union (BTS) Branch Women Secretary Bahar Uluğ, TJA activists Zekiye Güler, Birsen Güneş, Safiye Akdağ, Evin Yelboğa, Emine Akşahin, Emine Çetiner, Keziban Kuday and Songül Kapanci were taken to the courthouse on Saturday upon the completion of their deposition.
Filiz Buluttekin, Bahar Uluğ, Fatma Yıldızhan and Songül Kapanci were arrested. Others were released with a judicial control measure.
The number of women sent to prison rose to 11.
