Newroz celebration kicks off in Frankfurt

The central Newroz celebration has begun in Frankfurt am Main. Thousands of people have arrived at Rebstockpark since early morning. The event, organized by the nation-wide umbrella organization KON-MED and its member associations, is dedicated to the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan and all political prisoners.

Many of the participants declare solidarity with the Kurdish liberation struggle and salute the resistance of the guerrillas and in the prisons. A group of young people protested against the PKK ban and the criminalization of the Kurdish movement in Germany.
