TAJÊ calls on women to stand against the occupation in Afrin

The Turkish invasion of the northern Syrian city of Afrin began in January 2018, and Afrin was occupied on March 18, 2018, after 58 days of resistance.

On the fourth anniversary of the invasion, TAJÊ remarked in a written statement that “The Turkish army, together with its mercenaries, initiated the invasion of Afrin on January 20, 2018, as a result of an international agreement. Hundreds of civilians were murdered as a result of certain states’ support and international silence.”

The statement noted that “YPJ-YPG and SDF fighters resisted the attacks for 58 days.”

TAJÊ further remarked that “the resistance put up by the people of Afrin against the fascism of the Turkish state, which has NATO’s war technology, is the greatest resistance of the twenty-first century,” adding, “This resistance is a symbol of pride for all free Kurds.”

TAJÊ highlighted that the Turkish state demonstrated the same cruelty in Afrin as ISIS, that Russia caused the invasion and the US and Europe remained silent in response to the invasion.

“The Turkish state’s brutality in Afrin continues. As a result of the attacks, hundreds of thousands of civilians left Afrin. Afrin’s people and women are still being kidnapped and tortured,” it said.

Addressing non-governmental organizations, women’s organizations, political forces and the entire Kurdish people, TAJÊ called for a stance against the brutality of the Turkish state in Afrin and said, “We share the same blood, the same cause and the same pain. We will fight for Afrin’s liberation in the footsteps of the martyrs and secure Afrin’s freedom.”
