First Newroz fires lit Diyarbakır

In Diyarbakır, Newroz fires were lit in the boroughs of Kayapınar and Bağlar, as well as the historical Sur and Çermik boroughs, with the slogan “Dem dema serkeftinê ye” (Now is the time to win). A Newroz fire was lit in the villages of Alankoz and Mirukızir in Bağlar.

Despite the rainy and cold weather, the citizens first lit a fire and then danced halay accompanied by drums and zurna. The women danced halay in their traditional dresses. Young people jumped over the fire and chanted “Biji Serok Apo”.
