Şenyaşar family: We fight for an honorable life
The Justice Vigil carried out by the Şenyaşar family has reached day 368. The vigil was launched on 9 March 2021 by Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons as a result of the attack carried out by AKP Deputy Ibrahim Halil Yıldız’s bodyguards and relatives, in Suruç, province of Urfa, on 14 June 2018.
The vigil has been carried out since then in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit, who survived the attack.
During the vigil in front of the courthouse, a banner was hung that read: “They murdered my two children and my husband in the hospital! No one has been detained! One of my sons has been held in a solitary cell for 4 years by the order of superiors. I want the immediate release of my son. Justice for the Şenyaşar family, justice for all”.
The family published a photo of Erinç Sağkan, President of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB), and the heads of regional bar associations on their social media account, with the following message: “A just and dignified life is sacred. For a year, we did not give in to the pressure and intimidation in front of the courthouse. Our struggle for justice is the demand of all honourable people. Those who remain silent in the face of this persecution cannot go out in public.”
