YPJ General Command calls on women’s organizations to “unite to fight and get your rights”

The YPJ General Command issued a message that will be read at the celebrations organized across Northern and Eastern Syria today, 8 March. The message promised resistance.

The YPJ said: “Women show that they are leading society towards change and democracy. When we look at the evaluation of women’s struggle in the last century, we see that there is a common struggle against arbitrary and tyrannical laws. Kurdish, Arab, Afghan, African, internationalist and other women are resisting the patriarchal mentality.”

Pointing out that many shortcomings have emerged in the evaluations made about 2021, the YPJ added: “In order for women’s organizations to form a shield, the relationship between them needs to be further strengthened. With the growth of women’s struggle, hegemon states increase their oppression and enslavement practices. For this reason, women should benefit from old experiences in order to expand the struggle and create unity in 2022.”

Celebrating the 8 March of the struggling women, promising struggle and resistance, the YPJ said: “We repeat our promise to continue the struggle every year as we do today. Women’s organizations should be united to fight and get their rights.”
