Jînda Ronahî: Resistance against NATO army is not ordinary

Jînda Ronahî, a member of the YJA Star Command Council, stated that the decision for freedom is clear and strong; she also stated that the great resistance’s honourable attitude created a new history, culture, ideology, and morality. “We can consider ourselves successful if we can make Rêber Apo an official interlocutor for the democratic rights and status of the Kurds,” Ronahî stated. She indicated that they will use sophisticated techniques to defeat the enemy.

Ronahi told ANF that the Turkish state attacked at the beginning of last year, with the intention of breaking the guerrillas and destroying it, but the guerrillas resisted with their own strength and repelled the attacks.

“Turkey thought that it would push the guerrillas into surrender,” Ronahî stated, referring to the Tamil example and the aspirations of Turkey, which is supported by NATO and added: “Perhaps the people around them did, but the Apoist guerrillas did not. Because the Apoist guerilla is determined to win. The guerillas answered in accordance with what the state was doing.”

AN ACCURATE AND REALISTIC PLANNING

Ronahî stated that the YJA Star guerrillas made plain and understandable plans at the beginning of 2021, and that some of the commanders took the initiative and welcomed the new year with great enthusiasm. “A great decision emerged at the meetings at the beginning of the year. A very realistic and precise planning was carried out. We went to the battlefield with this faith and hope. On the other side, the victorious martyrs in the previous period was used to counter all hostile attacks.

A SUCCESSFUL BALANCE SHEET FOR GUERILLAS

Ronahî noted that the balance sheet released by YJA Star only relates to autonomous operations, and of course, only those whose outcomes were determined from the outset, and added: “There are 116 autonomous operations.  HPG’s balance sheet includes female comrades, who are also quite active at all levels. When we include that, the balance sheet doubles. In this sense, there is a successful balance sheet, and it is due to Kurdistan’s heroines. Heval Nûjîn, for example, was an early participant in Amed’s guerrilla life. They departed their camp at a very early hour. They were made targets. The open attitude of the female guerrillas under the command of Nûjîn Koçer is the one that hit the enemy until the last second, clashed with them, and refused to surrender until the final bullets were fired. That is something I can say for every fighter.”

RESISTANCE AGAINST THE NATO ARMY IS NOT ORDINARY

Pointing out the Turkish state’s declaration in which it talks about extending the battle to Bashure Kurdistan and killing the guerillas there, Ronahî continued as follows: “The state thought that it will annihilate the guerrillas. It thought we were inexperienced in tunnel battles. The guerrillas’ stance, particularly the female guerrillas, was remarkable. They took the lead, demonstrated female leadership. In those tunnels, they also engaged in underground warfare. It was a new period, a new stage in the PKK and YJA Star guerilla movements. Yes, YJA Star lacked tunnel combat experience. There had been fights in a few areas before, but we had never seen anything like this with our all-female force. What made YJA Star that successful in these tunnels? First and foremost, their years of experience. Their mastery of the weapon had helped them to go forward. YJA Star spent all of their time away from the action and operation educating themselves on military, ideological, political, and cultural matters. The YJA Star army is deployed in Kurdistan as a team. Each of these groups has a branch. Someone, for example, is a specialist in sniper attacks, while another is an expert in sabotage methods. Some used mortars to surprise and overwhelm the enemy, while others used rockets and missiles. Some of my comrades are specialized in three or four branches each. These teams are formed after receiving appropriate training. Experience meets educational quality. Female comrades strived in those mountains and took a position in these tunnels. It took a long time. They dominated the tunnels. They were left there in the dark with no food or water. However, in spite of all the odds, they kept fighting. The female comrades carried out a fantastic performance. With months-long resistance against a NATO-affiliated state, what is sustained and exposed in small tunnels is not ordinary.”

OUR DESIRE FOR FREEDOM IS CLEAR AND FIRM

Ronahî stated that female comrades’ performance demonstrates how deeply the will for independence is in Kurdistan. The YJA Star guerillas also demonstrated how clearly and firmly the desire for liberty was formed. It was decided to fight for freedom against fascism. It was better to fight rather than submit. Indeed, a group of comrades exploded their latest bomb within the enemy themselves. This noble mentality helps to create a new history, culture, belief, and morals. We may consider ourselves successful if we can secure the Kurds’ democratic rights and standing, as well as Rêber Apo’s appointment as the official mediator.”

WE ARE FULLY FOCUSED ON SUCCESS

Noting that the planning for 2022 was made by taking these things into account, Ronahî added that they expected more attacks compared to previous years because “Turkey has no intentions to favour a solution. We are aware of this. We also base ourselves on the democratic people’s war focused on victory against the occupying state. We are determined in this matter as well. Our planning was very detailed. In all guerrilla positions, especially female guerrillas, will take an active part and lead. They will plan an important role. They will go on top of the enemy with various tactics. Our people will do their part in every sense. The youth of Kurdistan will also become more active in guerrilla warfare.”
