Two more prisoner join Hogir Batu, on hunger strike against torture in Iğdır for 65 days
Hogir Batu, who was arrested during the police political attacks in the Nusaybin district of Mardin and later sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment in the Nusaybin Case, was deported from Diyarbakır No. 1 High Security Prison to Iğdır S Type Closed Prison on 23 December.
Batu went on hunger strike on 24 December 2021 against the strip searching torture he was exposed to here. On the 4th day of his action, Batu was tortured by the guards by being kept in the sponge room for hours.
Fırat Gerekli and Mazhar Metin, in the same prison, joined the hunger strike, which Batu has been carrying out for 65 days. It was said that Gerekli and Metin went on hunger strike on 16 February to protest the fact that their letters are not sent and they are being kept in remote and isolation rooms, and not being referred to hospitals.
The Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) called on the Ministry of Justice to end the violations of rights and said that they “will visit the prison shortly.”
