Why is everything going wrong in Turkey?
Turkey is a land of outcasts. It has nothing to do with what is going on in the globe. There is just one explanation why it is not similar; it is the Kurdish issue. As long as the Kurdish issue is not addressed, it will remain a land of monstrosities. Everything will be corrupted. There will be nothing that is comparable to the situation in other countries throughout the world. As long as the Kurdish issue is not resolved, both political and social life in Turkey will be distinct from that of other countries throughout the world. Sports and art will both be corrupted. The economic field will not be comparable to that of other countries throughout the world. The political left, the political right, and the religious right, all will be different. Because Turkey’s institutions have been designed to deny and slaughter Kurds. Those who do not act in accordance with the law have no claim to live! As a result, chauvinism penetrates all aspects of life. It deviates everything from its natural course; it distorts. In Turkey, those who do not grasp this cannot be considered intellectuals, democrats, or socialists. They are the ones who discover the truth; if they are also corrupted, there is nothing you can do. This is how the foundation of all distortions in Turkey’s reality should be approached. The distortions for Turkey are explained by the denial and homicidal policies implemented against the Kurds, just as the distortions for all mankind began with the dominance of women. This is the source of the corrupt life in Turkey, whether you call it the law or the code of the corrupt life.
In Turkey, being left, intellectual, and democrat poses major challenges. This is evident on numerous occasions. For example, all intellectuals, artists, and democrats should have protested the Turkish president’s final words to Sezen Aksu. However, the reaction was limited. Perhaps a large number of people did not accept it; yet, its articulation was insufficient. After all, Erdogan reversed course when he discovered that there were more dissenters than open opposition. Erdogan is capable of making a comeback. I cited this topic as an example because it is relevant.
Our main topic is that in Turkey, everyone deems the AKP-MHP government a fascist and Erdogan a dictator. However, when it comes to how to fight fascism, attitudes in other regions of the world are not shared. Democratic and left politics in fascist nations share the same goal: to establish an alliance against fascism. Because fascism cannot be defeated without this awareness. Turkey, on the other hand, is completely fascist. Of course, this fascism is based on a specific conflict in the twenty-first century and on the genocide of Kurds. Because this fascism wears masks and drapes to conceal its homicidal nature and even its dictatorial countenance. Two of these are the so-called election and the so-called parliament. Because fascism in Turkey is camouflaged and masked, democrats and leftist political groups cannot unite to oppose AKP fascism. Some political forces labelled as “left” or “democrats” find reasons not to join the Democracy Alliance.
The HDP is a party that encompasses a wide range of democratic political movements. There are also democrats who are Muslims. There are socialists as well. There are patriotic, democratic Kurds as well as communist Kurds. This effort of HDP proved successful. It has established an important tradition that brings together Turkish democratic forces and Kurdish democratic forces. It would have been even more successful if the basic ideology had been completely applied; it would have expanded into a larger democratic political movement. It would be the answer to Turkey’s reality. It now serves a critical role. It has become a pillar of the anti-fascist struggle.
However, the HDP will find it difficult to shed the enormous fascism in Turkey on its own. A broader democratic alliance is required in this regard. The Nation Alliance is difficult to see as a true democracy alliance. They are an alliance weakened by a misunderstanding of the Kurdish issue. As a result, Turkey requires an alliance other than the People’s and Nation’s Alliance. This was made possible by the collaboration of eight parties. This is a step in the right direction, but it is insufficient in terms of results. It’s a sloppy formation. On the other hand, some sectors of the left and democratic parties are still not on board. For whatever reason, some on the left and within the Democrats are opposed to an alliance with the HDP and this arrangement. There is no solution, for example, to the fact that the Left Party does not engage in the formation in which these eight political groups are involved. Nobody is persuaded by their arguments. It is claimed that the Left Party is not included in this spectrum in order to avoid upsetting some people. It is more aligned with the CHP than with the HDP or the left alliance.
Nothing will fall into place in Turkey until the Kurdish issue is settled. In this regard, the Kurdish issue represents a purity test for leftism, democracy, and Islam. No one may earn these honors unless they openly promote the Kurdish people’s right to a free and democratic life. Those who claim I am a leftist, a democrat, and a Muslim, on the other hand, are fooling the Turkish people. We must now put an end to this lie. Otherwise, the Turkish people will be unable to leave their current state of anguish, which will be called a torment of hell!
