German police block young activists on their way to Strasbourg

A demonstration will take place in Strasbourg today to mark the abduction of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan to Turkey 23 years ago. The abduction of the PKK founder took place with the international cooperation of various states. The Kurdish liberation movement therefore describes the abduction as an international conspiracy that began with Öcalan’s forced departure from Syria in October 1998 and continues to this day.

In the German city of Mannheim, police blocked a group of young activists who were on their way to Strasbourg to join the central rally to demand freedom for Abdullah Öcalan.

The German police stopped the bus carrying activists to the Strasbourg rally. 11 young people were forced out of the bus and prevented from proceeding on their way.

The journalists covering the obstruction were also threatened by the police.
