FED-MED calls on people to join demonstration in Dusseldorf on Saturday
The North Rhine-Westphalia Mesopotamia Free Societies Federation (FED-MED), the umbrella organization of the Democratic Kurdish Community Centers in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) state, called 15 February “Genocide Day”. On 15 February 1999, the international conspiracy against Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan led to his abduction. FED MED called for a march to begin at 1 pm in front of the DGB Haus in Dusseldorf on Saturday, 12 February.
FED-MED said in a statement: “15 February marks the 23rd anniversary of the international conspiracy, which is the Genocide Day of the Kurds. This conspiracy against the Kurdish people is the embodiment of the last great genocide of the 20th century, the Kurdish genocide. The capture of Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] was the result of an international conspiracy, and for the Kurdish people meant to ignore them as a people. Undoubtedly, this is the heaviest thing a nation can experience.”
The statement continued: “The only condition for the Kurdish people to get out of this situation and become a normal society and nation is to be in an uninterrupted, solid organization and struggle against this great conspiracy. As the Kurdish people, we have stood, resisted, organized and taken action in every field and at every level under the leadership of the freedom movement against conspiracy and conspirators during the past 23 years. Thanks to this resistance, which was shown in parallel with Rêber Apo’s Imrali resistance, the conspiracy could not achieve the results it expected. However, the conspiracy continues.”
The statement added: “In the current situation, we, as the Kurdish people, have to dismantle the genocide completely and achieve success in our persistent struggle to ensure our existence and ensure our freedom. There is no doubt that breaking the circle of genocide means defeating and eliminating the international conspiracy altogether. This is only possible by ensuring the physical freedom of Leader Apo. Apart from this, there is no other way to protect our existence as a people and to ensure our freedom.
We condemn and reject Kurdish genocide day. On this basis, as Kurds living in NRW, we will condemn the 15 February Genocide Day with a demonstration in front of the DGB Haus on 12 February 12 at 1pm.”
