The Kobanê Trial continues today

The 9th hearing of the so-called Kobanê Case against 108 people, 22 of whom in prison, was held in Sincan Prison on Monday. HDP deputies Tülay Hatimoğulları, Fatma Kurtulan, Ali Kenanoğlu, Ankara provincial and district administrators and many lawyers attended the hearing. While politicians held in Sincan Prison were in the courtroom, politicians in different prisons were connected to the hearing through video audio system.

The 5th session of the 9th hearing continued with the statements of the previous term executive board member Bülent Parmaksız who said: “They cleaned up society under a few titles in order to put the workers to sleep in Turkey. This cleaning up is a lie, it is wrong. We work and analyse things based on production and class. If there is to be a separation, it should be in terms of class and oppressor-oppressed.”

Touching on the increasing femicides, Parmaksız said: “Now they take pictures of the women they murdered. This is rottenness, there is no limit to horror! They used the sword yesterday to kill women, today they take pictures of the women they killed. Capitalism has made people crazy.”

Reminding Sezen Aksu’s album Light rises from the east, Parmaksız said: “Civilization was founded in lower Mesopotamia. The compass, paper, money, everything came from the east. The West has a 500-year-old history. Before that, everything was in the east. Civilization is volatile, it moves from place to place. It started from the east and continued for hundreds and thousands of years. Then it shifted west and now it’s heading towards the Pacific. We are not afraid of our history. We reject orientalism, we do not do eastern-westernism. We do not accept the modernization movement, which has become an ideology of the sovereigns, in this way. History has its ups and downs, but history always flows forward, not backward. There are those who try to make it flow backwards, but it will not return.”

The hearing today will continue with declarations made by Parmaksız.
