Long March in Kiel on its second day
Ahead of 15 February, the anniversary of Abdullah Öcalan’s deportation to Turkey in 1999, long marches are taking place in different regions in Europe demanding freedom for the Kurdish leader, who has been imprisoned for 23 years.
The long march in the German city of Kiel is taking place with the participation of over 200 Kurds and their German friends from Hamburg, Oldenburg and Bremen. The march organised by the Kurdish Community Centre in Kiel started in the Mettenhof district on Saturday and resumed from Wik on Sunday before it concluded at Kiel Central Train Station.
The demonstrators demand the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan and an end to the aggravated isolation imposed on him by the Turkish state.
