Heseke Canton Council meets the needs of displaced locals after ISIS attack

Clashes between Internal Security Forces, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and ISIS gangs have been continuing in Sinaa Prison, and the neighbourhoods of Zihur and Xiweran since 20 January.

Following the ISIS attack against Sinaa Prison in Xiweran Neighbourhood of Heseke, in which 5 thousand ISIS gangs are held, a curfew has been declared in the region.

Due to the conflicts in the region, hundreds of residents living in Zihur and Xiweran neighbourhoods were forced to migrate.

Co-chair of Heseke Canton Council, Xebat Silêman, said, “After ISIS gangs attacked the Sinaa Prison, the District Council declared a state of emergency during the meeting of the Crisis Desk.”

The Crisis Desk assigned Heseke Council to receive and settle the people who were displaced from Zihur and Xiweran neighbourhoods.

Remarking that migrants have been placed in various centers, Xebat Silêman expressed that councils and communes in the city are continuously working to meet the needs of the people.

At nights, North and East Syrian Internal Security Forces and Social Defense Forces (HPC) guard the neighbourhoods, noted Xebat Silêman.
