HDBH militias target state forces in Amed

The Peoples’ United Revolutionary Movement (HDBH) Sakine Cansız Militias released a statement announcing the details of their latest actions against the police and military in Amed (Diyarbakır) province.

According to the statement published by the group on Tuesday, HBDH militia targeted police teams patrolling in the vicinity of Melik Ahmet High School at 23.30 on 10 January 2022.

The strike with improvised explosive devices and fireworks left four police officers injured. While the militias were able to withdraw without any losses, a large number of police units were deployed to the scene and blockaded the area for search operations.

The HDBH militias also shared information about another action that targeted soldiers in Amed on 9 January night. Accordingly, the action with improvised explosive devices targeted the soldiers guarding Amed E-type Closed Prison.

“Our units carried out these actions for revolutionary prisoners who have been resisting against pressure, isolation and persecution. From the fascist German Nazism and fascist Italy to the AKP-MHP fascism, history has always been made by the resisting revolutionaries”, said the statement.

Recalling the 19 December 2000 massacre, torture against hunger strikers in jails, and Garibe Gezer, Halil Güneş and İlyas Demir who recently lost their lives in prisons, the statement said, “Our united revolutionary movement will bring all massacres perpetrated in the history of Turkey and Kurdistan Liberation Movement to account. We will continue our actions against arbitrary treatment, bans on visits, harassment, rape and all kinds of torture in jails. All tormentors will absolutely be brought to account.”

The statement added, “In such a delicate period when the fascist government and its economy are collapsing, the government tries to overcome its internal crises by attacking revolutionaries and peoples. We salute all those resisting the attacks of the enemy. Our units carried out these two actions to salute the resistance in jails in memory of Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez.”
