Over 500 dismissed Oppo workers protest in front of factory

More than 500 workers at the Chinese Oppo factory in Tuzla, Istanbul, which produces smart phones, were dismissed on the grounds of their unionization and the global crisis. The laid-off Oppo employees gathered in front of the factory to protest the layoffs.

The workers were first given an 8-day leave, on 28 December, because the factory said that there was a problem with “raw materials and stocks”. Since 3 January, workers have been receiving phone calls from the factory and have been told that they were dismissed because of the global crisis.
