Two drones targeting Coalition forces shot down in Baghdad

Two drones targeted coalition troops in the early hours of Monday morning (Jan.3), a source from the US-led International Coalition told AFP.

The source who wished to remain anonymous said that Baghdad airport where there is a military base with “very few coalition troops” was “targeted by two drones”.

The source added that both drones have been shot down.

The attack arrived on the second anniversary of the killings of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani and the Deputy Head of Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces), Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

Quds Force commander Soleimani and al-Muhandis were killed on January 3, 2020, in a drone attack by the United States at Baghdad airport.
