Families of martyrs meet in Drancy
A meeting with the families of the martyrs was organised in Drancy, a suburb of Paris.
Many families of martyrs from Drancy and the surrounding areas attended the event, which was promoted by the Drancy Martyrs’ Families Commission and the Drancy Zin women’s council.
The event started with a minute’s silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the Kurdistan freedom struggle.
After the opening speech, Celil Akdoğan spoke on behalf of the organisation of families of martyrs, Dayîka Tellî on behalf of the families of the martyrs, Nûpel Munzur on behalf of the European Kurdish Women’s Movement. Representatives of different institutions also delivered their speeches.
Speaking on behalf of the families of the martyrs, Dayîka Tellî called for sensitivity to all Kurdistan people, especially those from Serhat living in Drancy and its surroundings. Tellî said: “It is important to commemorate our martyrs who brought us together here today and keep us together. Today, our children are being murdered by chemical weapons in Kurdistan. We cannot sit comfortably. It is our duty to carry on their struggle to make their dreams come true.”
Nûpel Munzur said: “The PKK is the party of martyrs. Our Leadership [Abdullah Öcalan] and the PKK gave meaning to the martyrs, founded a party in their memory, enlarged the movement and made its aims fundamental. The first martyr of the PKK and the subsequent martyrs left a legacy of resistance to the Kurdish people. Our fallen friends created the resilient spirit of the PKK with their lives and stances. The PKK spirit is resisting in Mamreşo, Werxelê, Avaşîn and Zap. The martyrs created the invincibility of the guerrilla. We renew our promise to follow our martyrs’ path and realize their dreams and goals. It is the moral and conscientious duty of the Kurdish people, especially women, and humanity to bring to justice those responsible for the Paris Massacre. Today is the day to unite around the martyrs, secure the freedom of the leadership and raise the struggle.”
