Committee preparing events for 8th anniversary of Paris Killings meets one last time
The committee preparing all events to commemorate the anniversary of the killings in Paris of PKK founder Sakine Cansız, KNK Paris representative Fidan Doğan and Youth Movement member Leyla Şaylemez, gathered one more time. The committee, led by the French Kurdish Women’s Movement (TJK-F) and the French Kurdistan Democratic Society-CDK-F, met to discuss the final preparations for the action, commemoration and rallies to be held in January, to pay tribute to the three Kurdish women politicians, murdered on 9 January 2013.
The meeting discussed the final preparations for the march and rally that will take place in Paris on 8 January. The rally will be preceded by the march in front of the Kurdistan Information Office on Wednesday, 5 January, at 12 pm. Commemoration events will also take place in front of the Kurdish Information Bureau on Sunday, 9 January. Co-chairs of TJK-F, CDK-F, Civaka Îslamiya Kurdistan (CIK), Democratic Alevi Federation (FEDA) and Democratic Kurdish Community Centers in Ile De France attended the meeting.
The march to be held in Paris this year will take place only with the participation of Kurds living in the Ile De France region and friendly institutions, due to the restriction imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.
This year, the rally will be held with the slogan ‘France is guilty as long as justice remains in the dark’.
It was stated that approximately 10 thousand leaflets have been distributed in Paris and all its suburbs so far, while stickers containing the call to action will be made most widely in Paris centre, Drancy and Villiers-le-Bel suburbs as of 2 January.
The preparatory committee, which planned the 8 January march and all the activities to be held throughout the week, to the smallest detail, reiterated its call to the public and said: “Justice and truth will prevail thanks to the will of this people and the protection of their martyrs.”
