Action by Peoples’ United Revolutionary Movement Kızılbaş Militias in Istanbul

The People’s United Revolutionary Movement (HDBH) Kızılbaş Militias carried out actions on the occasion of the anniversary of the Maraş massacre.

The Kızılbaş Militias said in a written statement: “On 22 December 2021, at around 8 am, our militias burned down and destroyed a vehicle showing MHP flags in front of Derviş Bey Site in Maltepe, Istanbul.”

‘The HDBH is an umbrella for Alevi people’

The statement continued: “On 19-26 December 1978, the Maraş Massacre was organised by the Turkish Intelligence Service. 120 people were slaughtered, their homes were burned down, only because they were Alevi, by a crowd carrying MHP flags with the slogan ‘Death to communists’.”

Defining the MHP as a terrorist organisation involved in state massacres, the statement reminded that the Alevi people have been subjected to brutal massacres for centuries. “A united struggle is the way to build a free world for Alevis. The HDBH is waging a united revolutionary war of oppressed Kurdish people and the working classes in Turkey and it is also an umbrella for the Alevi people. We call upon Alevi young people to join the ranks of militia forces following the paths of revolutionary leaders Mahir Çayan, Deniz Gezmiş, İbrahim Kaypakkaya and Mazlum Doğan in order to bring the fascists to account, together with Kurdish youths.”
