HDP jailed politician Aslan says prisoners are kept under pressure in Amed prison

HDP Mardin former Provincial co-chair Ali Aslan, who suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure, talked about the violations of their rights during a visit with his family.

Stating that they are starving in prison, Aslan said: “They haven’t given food to us for many days. The food they give to 4 people is too little to feed even a 6-year-old child. Sometimes we go to bed hungry at night. When we ask for something to buy from the canteen with our own money, they give half of it. They say that this is what we are entitled to.”

Arrested in December 2019, Aslan was transferred from Mardin E Type Closed Prison to Amed 9 months ago against his will.

Responding to the fact that they were not transferred to the blocks where political prisoners were held, Aslan said that they were kept in prison under difficult conditions. “We are under pressure here.”
