DBP, HDP and PIA pay visit to Şenyaşar family
Support visits continue to the justice vigil of Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons in an armed attack on June 14, 2018 in the Suruç district of Urfa, that involved AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız’s bodyguards and relatives, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who was injured in the same attack. A delegation which consisted of the deposed Ergani district co-mayor, Human and Freedom Party (PIA) deputy chair Ahmet Kaya, and representatives of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Ergani and Çermik district organizations visited the family in the area called the ‘Şenyaşar family justice corner’.
‘MURDERERS ARE FREE’
Ferit Şenyaşar informed the delegation about the massacre suffered by the family and their struggle for justice. Mother Emine Şenyaşar said that they have been carrying out the vigil in front of the courthouse for about a year. “We are sitting here despite all the obstacles. They summon me to give a statement while the murderers walk around freely. Who killed my children? Why don’t they release my son in prison? Is this justice?”
HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) Ergani District co-chair Zülküf Birgül stated that the family’s demand for justice is the demand of the entire society. “We support their rightful action. It is our greatest wish to see their demand met. The constitution has been abandoned. Everyone should support the family’s legitimate struggle,” Birgül said.
CALL FOR PUBLIC SUPPORT
DBP (Democratic Regions Party) Ergani District co-chair Zülküf Uçar said that the family’s demand for justice should be met immediately. “The family’s demand for justice is the demand of everyone who promotes human values. Where laws are disregarded, humanity disappears. There can be no peace in a country where laws are disrespected,” Uçar said.
PIA (Human and Freedom Party) Deputy Chairman Ahmet Kaya congratulated the family for their relentless struggle for justice and called for everyone’s support. “Today we are here to restore justice. We have no other purpose. We just want justice to be secured and light to be shed on the massacre,” he said.
‘SUPPORT GIVES US STRENGTH’
HDP Çermik District co-chair Berat Can pointed to the government crackdown against the Justice Vigil and said that “We support the rightful and legitimate protest of the family.”
Ferit Şenyaşar thanked the delegation and made the following remarks: “Despite the bad weather, they visited us. This gives us the strength to resist. When this system is removed, those who attempted to cover up this file will be called to account. Our friends take care of the case. We want justice to be served as soon as possible.”
The delegation left the area after attending the Justice Vigil for a while.
