HDP to hold ‘Time for Justice’ rally in Suruç, Urfa

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) announced the regional rally to be held under the slogan “Time for Justice” in Suruç district of Urfa on December 25, and urged the people to participate in the rally.

The rally will be dedicated to Emine Şenyaşar who has been holding a justice vigil in front of Urfa courthouse for months and became a symbol of struggle for justice, said Çiğdem Karakeçili, co-chair of the HDP Urfa Provincial Organisation, stressing, “We will be on the streets against femicide, violence against women, impunity for murderers and existing gender politics.” Karakeçili called on all women, youth and mothers, from Saturday mothers to Roboski mothers, to participate in the rally and raise their voice for justice.

‘Let us take to the streets to stop isolation, injustice and poverty’

Similarly, HDP Urfa Provincial Co-chair Ziya Çalışkan urged everyone to voice reaction to the pollution, war policies, drug trade and looting, “at a time when all kinds of corruption, injustice, death in prisons and isolation are increasing.”

All mothers demanding justice should participate in the rally to be held on December 25, said Peace Mother Hadle Oğur, adding, “Emine Şenyaşar has been demanding justice in front of Urfa Courthouse for months, for seasons. Mothers in Amed and Van demand justice to stop deaths in prisons. As mothers, we should unite in order to achieve justice.”

Muhammet Ayten, a member of the HDP Urfa Youth Council, said, “In a country where there is no justice, the youth has been left futureless. We call on all youth in Urfa to participate in the rally which we organise under the slogan ‘Time for Freedom”.
