Emine Şenyaşar summoned to testify for 11th time

Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons in a massacre organized by the AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız’s bodyguards and relatives on 14 June 2018 in the Suruç district of Urfa, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who was injured in the same attack, are continuing the justice vigil in front of the Urfa Courthouse. The vigil, launched on March 9, is on its 288th day.

SUMMONED TO TESTIFY

In the early hours of the morning, Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenşayar came to the area called “Şenyaşar family justice corner” outside the Urfa Courthouse and started the vigil. Shortly afterwards, police officers approached the family and summoned Emine Şenyaşar to the prosecutor’s office to give a statement for the 11th time on the grounds that she had “insulted a public official”.

It is reported that mother Emine Şenyaşar will have to testify based on the words she uttered during her laments on the 241st day when she came in front of the courthouse with a serum on her arm and on the 245th day when more than a hundred mothers of peace from various cities visited the vigil to give support.

Ferit Şenyaşar reacted to the state officials and said that his mother would answer all questions at the prosecutor’s office by asking “Who killed my husband and 2 children?”. The mother and son went to the courthouse with their lawyers to “give a statement”.

MESSAGE ON SOCIAL MEDIA

“We prefer to freeze to death in front of the Şanlıurfa Courthouse instead of sitting at home and living under persecution. Shame on those who talk about law and justice in Turkey,” the family wrote on their social media account by tagging accounts of Urfa Governor Abdullah Erin, Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gül, Head of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) Erinç Sağkan and AKP Urfa Deputy Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba.
