HPG guerrillas fallen in Bagok laid to rest
The Turkish state launched an operation on Bagok Mountain in Nusaybin, province of Mardin, on 11 December. The operation lasted until 15 December and was carried out using warplanes. 6 HPG guerrillas fell as martyrs.
The bodies of six female guerrillas were taken to the Mardin State Hospital morgue, and three families went to the hospital to identify the bodies on Monday, 20 December.
Two of the families identified the bodies of Deniz Orak (Hîra) and Simanur Kaya (Mesken).
The family of Betül Dilen (Dicle), who came from the village of Aluca (Ulucanlar) in the Karayazı district of Erzurum, stated that the other four bodies were unrecognizable and they could not be identified. Dilen’s family then gave a blood sample for DNA testing.
The bodies of Orak and Kaya were handed over to the families after a series of arbitrary problems.
The body of Deniz Orak (Hîra) was taken to the neighborhood of Kurika Çeto (Aytepe) in Artuklu, province of Mardin to be buried. The burial happened under gendarmerie blockade.
The body of Simanur Kaya was buried in the Cemetery of Nusaybin, also under police blockade. Only Kaya’s family was allowed to enter the cemetery.
