Signatures collected in Ecuador for delisting of the PKK

In Ecuador, signatures are being collected for the campaign initiated by a thousand first signatories for the removal of the PKK from the “terror lists” of the EU and the USA. In the Ecuadorian capital Quito, the anti-colonial collective Desde El Margen set up several stands where signatures were collected on Saturday. The stalls at a book fair at the Carondelet Palace and Reina Victoria will remain open on Sunday. Parallel to the collection of signatures, interested people will be informed about the situation in Kurdistan.

The campaign of the “Justice for Kurds” initiative is taking place in 30 countries and is led by about a thousand internationally known personalities. Among them are parliamentarians, academics, filmmakers, politicians, writers and activists.

The campaign is expected to last several months and aims to collect four million signatures. The signatures will be sent to the Council of Europe and to the relevant institutions responsible for the “terror list” in the USA. They will also serve as a reference for members of national parliaments and put the issue on the agenda of state parliaments.

The initiative aims to de-legitimise the Turkish state for its belligerent actions and repression. The Turkish state uses the “terror lists” of the EU and the USA as justification for its excessive use of the term terror to persecute any opposition as well as for its attacks and war crimes against Maxmur, Shengal and Rojava. The initiative sees the delisting of the PKK as an important step in breaking the international silence on the crimes of the Turkish state and paving the way for a just peace.
