KON-MED calls for strong participation in protests against Turkey’s massacres

The Confederation of Communities from Kurdistan in Germany (KON-MED) demands that the German government stop supporting the Turkish regime and calls for participation in the actions against the massacres committed.

In a statement released on Sunday, KON-MED condemned the 19-26 December 1978 Maraş massacre, the 19 December massacre in prisons and the 28 December 2011 Roboski massacre, saying the following:

“Turkey is a terrorist state built on genocides, massacres, systematic assimilation and a policy of extermination. The fascist Turkish state makes its existence dependent on Kurdish genocide and must be tried before an international criminal court.

As KON-MED, we condemn the massacres committed by the Turkish state and respectfully commemorate all the victims.

From 19 to 26 December 1978, the Maraş pogrom took place. It was a planned massacre in line with state policy. Hundreds of Alevi Kurds were murdered. On 19 December 2000, a planned massacre was carried out against political prisoners in Turkey. Twenty-nine defenceless people were killed. On 28 December 2011, the Roboski massacre took place. The airstrike killed 34 young Kurds, many of them minors.

The fascist Turkish state has carried out these massacres in a planned manner and is still continuing massacres as a state policy without interruption in a systematic form – in Afrin, Serêkaniyê, Shengal and the Medya Defense Zones. Inhuman attacks are taking place. Chemical weapons are used against the Kurdish freedom fighters in the Medya Defense Zones, people are killed with drones in Shengal and political prisoners are killed in Turkish jails. These attacks show that the Turkish state is a terrorist state. It must be sanctioned and tried for its crimes. The massacres are taking place in full view of the world public. Human ethics and dignity do not count. Those who close their eyes to this and remain silent are complicit. Those who consider themselves human must take a stand against this.

As KON-MED, we once again address the German government, which has been financing the policy of massacres implemented in Kurdistan for years: The arms agreements with Turkey and the war against the Kurdish people must be stopped. The just and legitimate struggle of the Kurdish people must be supported.

On this basis, we call on our people and all revolutionary and democratic people to participate in the actions against the massacres committed by the Turkish state in Maraş, Roboski and the prisons.”
