Lawyers and families of Abdullah Öcalan get no answer to their request for “urgent visit”
Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan’s brother Mehmet Öcalan and his guardian Mazlum Dinç and prisoners Ömer Hayri Konar’s brother Ali Konar, Hamili Yıldırım’s brother Polat Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş’s brother Melihe Çetin requested an urgent visit to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and Prison on Monday. They applied to demand an urgent visit with their relatives after the 3-month family visit ban imposed on Abdullah Öcalan on 18 August ended.
No response was received.
The lawyers applied for an “urgent meeting” at Bursa Penal Execution Judge on 22 November, as no positive or negative response was given to their applications to meet with their client Abdullah Öcalan. Responding to the application, the judgeship rejected the application, stating that there were two new bans on Abdullah Öcalan.
The judge’s office noted that a 6-month ban on lawyers was issued on 12 October, and a 3-month family visit ban was imposed on 18 August. However, the lawyers were not informed about the decisions cited as reasons for the ban.
