Activists in London demand release of 55 young Kurds detained in Den Haag
Young Kurdish activists gathered in front of the Dutch Embassy in London to condemn the arrest of 55 Kurdish activists protesting the Turkish state’s use of chemical weapons in front of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
The action was promoted by TekoJIN (Jinên Ciwan ên Tekoşer) and TCŞ (Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger).
Demanding the Netherlands to immediately release the Kurdish activists, protesters in London emphasized that the Netherlands supported the Turkish state, which committed crimes against humanity, with these arrests.
In the statement made here, the harsh attitude of the police was condemned and it was stated that 55 people were arrested unlawfully and unjustly.
The statement demanding the immediate release of the arrested young activists said: “The Dutch state must immediately correct this mistake. It should take a stance against the chemical weapons used by the fascist Turkish state in Kurdistan and the Middle East. As long as international forces remain silent against the chemical weapons used against the Kurds, the Turkish state will continue to commit these crimes against humanity. The attitudes of the Western states towards the Kurdish people are never acceptable. If they think that by arresting 55 Kurdish youths, who have an honourable attitude, they are stifling our voice, they are wrong. We invite all people to solidarity against fascism and crimes against humanity.”
