HDP office stormed, six politicians detained in Tekirdağ
In the province of Tekirdağ in western Turkey, six people have been detained in their homes, and the HDP office in the district of Çerkezköy was searched by police. The premises were vandalized during the search, and police confiscated documents and storage media. Among the six detained politicians are HDP provincial association co-chair Cahit Direk and district association co-chair Kasim Güzel. They are being held at the Gendarmerie Command Center in Tekirdağ.
The politicians are accused of spreading propaganda for a terrorist organization and using the term “Kurdistan” during police interrogation in connection with a rally on November 7. They are expected to be brought before the public prosecutor’s office on Thursday. At the well-attended rally ten days ago, HDP Co-Chair Pervin Buldan was the keynote speaker to promote her party’s roadmap for justice, democracy and peace.
