Activists in Leipzig protest use of chemical weapons against guerrilla areas in South Kurdistan
An information stand was opened in Leipzig to protest the invasion attacks launched by the Turkish state against Medya Defense Areas on 23 April.
The action was promoted by the European Kurdish Women’s Movement and internationalists. Leaflets were distributed at the stand at Willy-Brandplatz.
Activists read a statement saying that the Turkish state resorted to war crimes and used banned chemical weapons in front of the eyes of the world. “Turkey resorted to chemical weapons because it has not made any progress in the attacks against Medya Defense Areas.”
The silence of Germany, the manufacturer of the chemicals used in Dersim and Halabja, was remarkable, said activists, adding that “Turkey should leave Kurdistan immediately.”
Emphasizing that the guerrillas are the guarantors of life for the oppressed, the statement called on the “OPCW to comply with its mission and take action against the crimes against humanity committed by the Turkish state.”
