Kurds in Bern protest the killing of three civilians by a Turkish drone in Qamishlo

Kurds living in Bern protested the killing of Kurdish patriots Yusuf Gulo, Muhammed Gulo and Mazlum Gulo. The three died after a drone attack by the Turkish state on the neighbourhood of Hilêliyê in Qamishlo.

Responding to the call for action by the Bern Democratic Kurdish Community Center and the Mizgin Women’s Council, the Kurds gathered in front of the central train station on Wednesday evening.

The activists, carrying photos of the 3 Kurdish patriots killed, also condemned the attacks carried out by the Turkish state against guerrillas with chemical weapons.

The protest started with a minute’s silence for the martyrs of the Kurdish Freedom Struggle in the person of Yusuf Gulo, Muhammed Gulo and Mazlum Gulo, and speeches were made on behalf of the institutions.

Speakers said: “The fascist Turkish state has once again shown its murderous face to the peoples of the region through its hostility to the Kurdish people. It is not a coincidence that our patriot, 82-year-old Yusuf Gulo, who was highly appreciated by the peoples of the region, was targeted and murdered. “We will respond to the people’s longing for a free Kurdistan with our struggle, in memories of our martyrs.”

The European states and international institutions, especially the UN, were asked to fulfil their duties.
