KCDK-E congratulates ‘Freedom for Öcalan Ship’ activists
The Co-Presidency Council of the Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress in Europe (KCDK-E) released a written statement about the Freedom for Öcalan Ship that set sail from Greece on Tuesday.
The statement pointed to the international conspiracy and the role of the foreign states, saying, “Öcalan came to Rome, the capital of Italy, from Russia on November 12, 1998, following the invitation of the Italian Communist Refoundation Party (PRC) deputy Ramon Mantovani.”
The statement continued as follows:
“Öcalan expressed his arrival to Italy with these words: ‘When I arrived in Italy, I was arrested while waiting for hospitality. The court later lifted the arrest, but several attempts were made to kidnap me while I was under a very harsh blockade. The security unit which dealt with me in Italy was also a special force with connections to NATO. D’Alema’s government did not have the power to withstand this force, nor even know about it. They did not listen to anyone and they acted on their own. The Italian government was insecure and weak. This security unit’s approach to me was harsh and disrespectful. They took my fingerprints and pictures, treating me like a criminal.’
‘HISTORIC IMPORTANCE’
The Freedom for Öcalan Ship is therefore important as a reminder to underline the historical truth of this international conspiracy against the Kurdish people and Öcalan. The Freedom for Öcalan Ship which departed from Lavrio, Greece on November 9, will arrive in Naples, Italy on November 12.
With 40 politicians and activists from Italy, France, Catalonia, Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Greece, Kurdistan and Turkey, the ship represents a protest of the peoples against the international conspiracy in order to remember these historic days and condemn the conspiracy.
The Freedom for Öcalan Ship action is of historic importance and a good example of how the conspiracy has been fended off.
The individuals whose names are listed below stated that they launched this action to end the 23 years of lawlessness and international isolation and declared that they defy the international isolation against Öcalan.
The main demands of the activists are lifting the international isolation on Öcalan, stopping the dirty war waged by the Turkish army which uses chemical weapons against the Kurdish people and their brave children, and removing the PKK from the list of ‘terrorist organizations’. Furthermore, they urge the Turkish army which continues its invasion attacks against all of Kurdistan, especially Southern Kurdistan, to immediately put an end to its aggression and withdraw from the occupied lands.
‘LET’S CAMPAIGN FOR ÖCALAN’S FREEDOM’
As KCDK-E, we congratulate the passengers of the Freedom Ship emphasizing that Öcalan should play his role under free conditions in order to establish a lasting peace in the Middle East, Kurdistan and Turkey.
As the KCDK-E, we reiterate that the demands of the activists on the Freedom for Öcalan Ship are our own demands. We call on our people to welcome the Freedom Ship, especially in Italy, and to ensure the physical freedom of Öcalan against the conspiracy and isolation in all European countries we live in.
