Guerrillas are mounting rare resistance in South Kurdistan
Dr. Rûkên Samsun, a guerrilla fighter in the ranks of YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops), pointed out that the chemical weapons used by the Turkish state damage the nervous system, burn and suffocate fighters. She added that they focus on more comprehensive measures against them.
Speaking to ANF, Samsun underlined that there has been great resistance in Avaşîn, Zap and Metina since April, and that the Turkish state, unable to break the guerrilla resistance, has resorted to chemical weapons.
“The Turkish state’s use of chemical weapons shows that it remains helpless. These chemical weapons affect human reflexes and nerves. There are also chemical gases that burn and suffocate the human body. Suffocation occurs when living things are deprived of oxygen. Chemical weapons are banned worldwide. The use of chemical weapons against the guerrillas is immoral.”
A FIERCE AND HEROIC WAR
Samsun said that the importance of human will becomes evident in places like Werxelê which are strongholds of resistance. “Such resistance is a rare event in world history. Here we see how Kurdish leader Öcalan’s philosophy strengthens the human will. The will and faith of our companions give us strength. The guerrillas are carrying out a fierce and self-sacrificing war. We take care of our injured companions. The Turkish army is increasing its chemical attacks each day. We are thus focusing on more comprehensive measures against this. There are also terrible deaths on the battlefields. Sometimes our comrades get injured. Despite their injuries, they keep struggling on the battle fronts and continue their resistance. Their resistance gives us strength,” she said.
TURKISH PEOPLE SHOULD DEFY GENOCIDAL POLICIES
YJA Star guerrilla Samsun remarked that the guerrillas are fighting for freedom not only for the Kurdish people, but also for the Turkish and all other peoples. “The ruling AKP-MHP government is carrying a special and dirty war between Kurdish and Turkish peoples with subtle policies and creating hatred among them. The Turkish people should defy chemical weapons and all kinds of genocidal policies. Peoples should not overlook the use of chemical weapons and they should embrace the resistance of our comrades.”
