Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Law and Human Rights Commission will present its preliminary defense regarding the party’s closure case to the Constitutional Court (AYM) today.

In a statement, the HDP said, “Our written defense prepared by our Law and Human Rights Commission regarding the closure case brought against our party as a result of political instructions will be submitted to the Constitutional Court today (Friday, 5 November) at 4pm.”

Party members, including HDP deputy co-chair of the Law and Human Rights Commission Ümit Dede, HDP Party Assembly member and lawyer Doğan Erbaş, and HDP lawyer deputies Mehmet Rüştü Tiryaki, will deliver the preliminary defense to the Constitutional Court.

While a brief statement is expected after the delivery, a press conference will be held at HDP Headquarters tomorrow, Saturday, to explain the details of the defense.

After the preliminary defense is delivered to the Constitutional Court, the file will be sent to the Supreme Court Chief Public Prosecutor Bekir Şahin, who must present his opinion on the merits within one month. After the opinion to be submitted by the Prosecutor’s Office, the HDP will be given one month to prepare its main defense.
