Dutch PM Rutte says ambassadors did not back down from Erdogan gov’t

The Dutch Prime Minister on Sunday spoke about the diplomatic row between Turkish President Recep Tayyip and the ambassadors during the G20 summit in Rome.

A diplomatic crisis emerged when the ambassadors of ten countries demanded the release of philanthropist businessman Osman Kavala.

Dutch Prime Minister Rutte stated that the ambassadors did not take a step back.

“I told Erdogan that the Netherlands always reserves the right to express concern over the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). It is a part of the mutual relationships,” Rutte told reporters.
