Muqtada al-Sadr calls on foreign countries to take their hands off Iraq

Making a call not to interfere in Iraq’s internal affairs, Muqtada al-Sadr said that foreign intervention would harm Iraq, its people, independence, prestige and sovereignty.

In an address made from his social media account, al-Sadr said that he will solve Iraq’s internal problems and added that his movement rejects foreign interventions. The clergyman did not openly say which countries he was referring to.

No government yet

The Sadr movement won the elections on 10 October. However, no development has been achieved so far on how the government will be formed and by which group. Likewise, it remains unclear who will be the prime minister and from which group, and warnings have been made that the country may face new chaos.
