Students take to the streets in Kurdistan Region

Teachers in the Federal Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq have been protesting for a month because their appointments have not been made. Following in the footsteps of the teachers, students are also protesting the education and exam systems. Students who have been protesting for four days in Sulaymaniyah, Hewler, Koye, Qeladiz, and Germiyan wrote to the Minister of Education.

Students assembled in Sulaymaniyah in front of the Directorate of Education office and marched to the front of the New Qalisan University. They blocked up the road and called for the relevant authorities to solve their problems.

“We reject the Ministry’s decision”

Students gathered in front of the Ministry of Higher Education headquarters in Hewler and blocked off the road in Koya. They expressed that they disagreed with the Ministry of Education’s decision and called out that the issue be addressed.

In Qeladiz, students were also in action. With the same demands, the students who demonstrated in the Public Garden blocked the traffic in Qeladiz.
