Communist Movement visits the protest at Semelka

For 25 days, mothers of martyrs have been demanding the bodies of the guerrilla fighters Tolhildan Raman and Serdem Cûdî from South Kurdistan’s ruling party KDP. The two martyrs were from Rojava and died in a KDP ambush in Xelifan.

The mothers joining the action in a tent have repeatedly been denied entry to South Kurdistan by the KDP forces, and have been put off with false promises. For example, the KDP had promised last week to hand over the bodies of the martyrs to the families – but so far nothing has happened. The women are determined to continue their protest action until they succeed.

The Revolutionary Communist Movement and the Revolutionary Communist Women’s Movement paid a visit to the families joining the protest.

After being greeted by the activists, the delegation proceeded to the Peşxabur Border Gate and made a statement criticizing the KDP’s attacks and betrayal against the guerrillas and the Kurdish people.

The statement said, “We will remove the borders if the bodies of the martyrs are not returned to their families. The Turkish government and its supporters intend to destroy the Kurdish people. The KDP has become a state ally of Turkey and it is betraying the Kurdish people. Cooperation between the KDP and the Turkish state undermines Kurdish unity.”

Noting that the enemy cannot break the will of the people of the region, the group condemned the KDP’s collaboration with the Turkish state. They called on the KDP to stop cooperating with the Turkish state and to stop attacking the guerilla.
