Protest against Turkey’s use of chemical weapons in Copenhagen

Kurds in Copenhagen protested against the UN and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) silence on the Turkish state’s use of chemical weapons in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

The Democratic Kurdish Community Center and the Sevê Women’s Assembly organised the protest which took place in front of the UN representation.

Dozens of demonstrators held banners reading, “Kurdish children are being murdered with toxic gas.”

The protestors, carrying banners denouncing the Turkish state’s war crimes and crimes against humanity, urged the international community to take action.

The protestors called for action as these atrocities are committed in front of the world, remarking that the Turkish state deployed chemical weapons at least 323 times in six months in Southern Kurdistan.

The activists also handed a file on Turkey’s chemical-weapons attacks to the UN representative.
