KCDK-E calls on people to join actions against Turkish use of chemical weapons

The European Kurdistan Democratic Societies Congress (Kongreya Civakên Demokrat ên Kurdistaniyên li Ewrûpa-KCDK-E) said that despite all the evidence confirming that the Turkish state used chemical weapons, international forces, especially the OPCW, continue to remain silent about the inhuman attacks carried out by the Turkish regime, and called everyone to participate in the widespread actions to be held in European cities between 29-31 October.

The KCDK-E also announced the action calendar for Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Cyprus, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Canada, Denmark and Australia.

The KCDK-E said: “Turkey continues to carry out chemical attacks, defined by humanity and international conventions as a crime against humanity. The mission and the reason for the formation of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), established within the United Nations, is to prevent the use of chemical weapons and to intervene against the states that use them. The Turkish state did not get any results with the invasion attacks it launched in South Kurdistan on 23 April. Chemical weapons were used at least 323 times in the six-month period between 23 April and October 2021.”

The statement continued: “In the attack that took place in the region known as Girê Sor on 3 September 2021, 6 guerrillas lost their lives and the people in the Behdinan region, which was turned into a conflict area, were also taken to different hospitals because they were affected by the chemical weapons used.

However, despite all the evidence, international powers, institutions, and groups that define themselves as independent, especially the OPCW, continue to remain silent about these illegal and inhuman attacks. It is this attitude that encourages the Erdogan regime to continue.

To remain silent and to stand watching today is to approve of this crimes against humanity, to be a partner in these crimes.

As KCDK-E, we invite everyone with a conscience who wants freedom and equality, especially the Kurdish people, to the actions to be held in the following countries and cities to demand the OPCW and related institutions to take action, comply with their mission and raise their voices against the inhuman attacks carried out by the Turkish state.”
