Kurdish young people from Germany take over “Freedom for Öcalan Vigil” in Strasbourg

This week, a group of young Kurdish people from Germany is carrying out the vigil in Strasbourg demanding the physical freedom of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, which started in Strasbourg on 25 June 2012.

The Vigil is in its 480th week and has been taken over by Hasan Aydın, Mirza Botan and Seyid Munzur.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Mirza Botan said that Kurdish young people are leading the struggle and added that they took over the vigil as another form of solidarity to the resistance put forward by Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Mirza Botan said: “Our leadership has put up a strong resistance against the conspiracy in Imrali and knitted a line of resistance against the denial and genocide of the Kurdish people.” Botan added that young people continue the struggle based on this historical resistance.

Emphasizing that all the crimes that the Turkish state has committed against the Kurdish people since the International Conspiracy have been committed with the support of European countries, Mirza Botan said that their message to these countries is that no Kurds will give up their struggle.

“Everyone must stand up against the isolation, occupation and genocide,” said Mirza Botan urging all Kurdish young people to stand up.
