Unexploded ordnance found by children detonates, killing one

A man was killed and four others injured in an explosion at a house in the Kurdish province of Ağrı on Saturday. The incident occurred in the hamlet of Çoban in the Diyadin district. According to relatives, children herding sheep on Mount Tendurek found an object and brought it home. It was apparently a dud from the Turkish army, which then detonated in the house.

The deceased is Mehmet Turan. The fifty-year-old was buried in Diyadin on Saturday evening following an autopsy.

Dilan and Sevim Turan were seriously injured in the explosion and are being treated at the state hospital in Ağrı. Ecem and Nesim Turan suffered minor injuries and have since been released from the hospital.
