Deadly ISIS legacies destroyed in northeastern Syria

The Roj Mine Control Organization (RMCO) explosive ordnance disposal service detonated several grenades and other deadly legacies of the terrorist militia ISIS in a controlled manner in northeastern Syria on Saturday. Landmines and other explosive devices were also destroyed.

According to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the weapons were those that ISIS had moved or stored after the attack on Kobanê in September 2014. Some of them contained chemical substances that are internationally banned.

The detonations were carried out in an uninhabited area south of Hesekê, and the operation was planned by the SDF in cooperation with the international anti-ISIS coalition. RMCO is a humanitarian demining organization that operates mainly in northeastern Syria. They are supported in their work by special forces from the U.S. military.
