Guerrillas strike Turkish forces in Heftanîn

The HPG Press Centre has released a statement about the latest guerrilla actions and Turkish invasion attacks in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq.

The statement published on Thursday includes the following:

“As part of the Cenga Xabur Revolutionary Campaign in the Heftanîn region:

On August 23, at 18:00, the Turkish soldiers in Girê Martyr Silav in the Pîrbila area were struck with heavy weapons from two sides. The first group of guerrillas of the coordinated action hit a dugout and a military position of the invaders with full accuracy and destroyed both. The second group of guerrillas targeted a Turkish unit patrolling in the area. While the enemy forces suffered casualties as a result of the action, the exact number could not be clarified.

The Girê Sor and Werxelê Resistance Areas in the Avaşîn region:

On August 25, between 10:00 and 11:00, the invading Turkish army assaulted the Girê Sor Resistance Area with heavy weapons.

On August 25, between 18:00 and 22:45, after bombing the Werxelê Resistance Area with explosives and poisonous gas, the Turkish units seeking to advance were forced to retreat as a result of the intervention of the Werxelê resistance fighters.

On August 26, between 07:50 and 08:15, intense Turkish drone activity took place in the Werxelê Resistance Area. Following the intervention of our forces, the drones moved away from the area. On the same day, the Resistance Area was bombed with poisonous gases starting from 08:30.

On August 25, between 14:30 and 15:00, the Kûnîska area of ​​the Zap region was bombed by fighter jets.

On August 25, between 23:50 and 00:40, the vicinity of the Martyr Şerîf Cemetery of Martyrs, located in the Kendekolê area of ​​the Xinêrê region, was bombed by fighter jets.
