Guerrillas hit Turkish forces in Xakurke and Zap

The People’s Defense Forces (HPG) Press Office released a statement and announced that guerrilla forces carried out multiple actions against the Turkish troops in Xakurke and Zap regions within the scope of the Bazen Zagrose offensive.

The statement included the following:

“In the Zap and Xakurke regions:

– Our units targeted the occupant forces deployed in Gire Şehid Şahan zone of Xakurke region with heavy weapons at 15.30 on August 18. The positions of the occupation troops were successfully struck by our units. 

– At 20.30 on August 21, one of the occupiers deployed in the Ciluya Biçuk area of Zap region was shot dead.

In the Avashin region, the areas of Gire Sor and Werxele:

-On August 22, the Turkish troops, after bombing the Gire Sor area, attempted to move towards the resistance field. In the face of the resistance of guerrillas in Gire Sor, they were forced to withdraw without any accomplishment.

– The invading Turkish army bombed the Werxele resistance zone with heavy weapons from the outposts located on the border line at 13.00 on August 22 and in the morning on August 23.

-The Werxele resistance zone was bombed with explosives 5 times by the invading forces between 23.40 – 01.30 on August 22. After the bombardment, guerrillas repulsed the occupiers.

Drone activity over the resistance zones

Turkish helicopter activity was observed over the Mervanos, Tabura, Gire Sor, Gire Spi and Gire Sileman areas of Avashin region between 21.00 – 23.40 on August 21.

– At 18.40 on August 22, the hillsides of Gire Çarçel in Metina region were bombarded by fighter jets.

-The Type T and Gire Şehid Simko areas in Zap region were bombarded by attack helicopters between 21.00 – 22.30 on August 22.
