PKK’s youth symbol: Ali Fırat

Those who gave their lives for Kurdistan’s cause followed you. They followed the mighty will. The outcome was the same. The vengeful souls’ behaviour could not be dissimilar. Bodies were dragged, corpses dismembered, but the minds that drove them to utilize those bodies for companionship and devotion will live on via what they implanted in us.

Duran Kalkan, a PKK Executive Committee member, spoke of the guerilla Ali Fırat’s struggle. According to Kalkan, HPG guerilla Ali Fırat has instilled Afrin’s patriotism with his spirit, consciousness, and feelings since his childhood. “He was raised and trained as a highly respectable, valued personality, like practically all Afrin youth, with the fire of the guerrilla resistance.” He was schooled on the history of Kurdistan’s liberation movement. He expressed his desire to join at an early age, and after working in his own region for a while, he became dissatisfied and travelled to the Kurdish mountains of freedom.

A RESPECTFUL AND DISCIPLINED REVOLUTIONARY

Duran Kalkan described Ali Fırat, one of the HPG guerrillas who was involved in a challenging struggle for years, in the following words: “He carried out arduous work in the most difficult regions in the mountains. He worked in a variety of locations around the Zagros and Kurdistan Freedom Mountains. He fought at all levels and took on the most difficult missions. Comrade Ali was never negative, and he’d never withdraw from anything. He was a revolutionary who was calm, disciplined, courteous, and loving. From the outside, he appeared sensitive, but in reality, he had a tenacious mentality and was doing a highly determined job.

He was appointed by the party administration for both the guerrilla and the guerrilla’s public relations because he performed essential jobs in many domains, had good interactions with the public in society, and developed deeper and warmer relations with the people. He was highly essential in all of those lines in Gever and Esendere. Gever educated his people and youth through a variety of methods, using his own resources. Everyone knew and loved him, and he was well-known in the community for his mature, honest, courageous, selfless, and diligent work.

He was a comrade of ours who worked around the clock to build and disseminate the freedom struggle as a party and guerilla 24 hours a day. He devoted a lot of effort to the Gever resistance, its youth, and people’s education. He became Gever’s heroic warrior, commander, revolutionary militant, and educator, as well as Afrin’s son. He was a beacon of awareness for the people.”

They vilely murdered him by trickery

Duran Kalkan, who stated that Martyr Ali Fırat’s unwavering struggle irritated the enemy, concluded his assessment with the following words: “Because of this situation, the enemy saw him as dangerous, they organized conspiracies, and they murdered Comrade Ali vilely and by trickery. “Comrade Ali was unaware of the conspiracy and was unable to overcome it. He had beaten many previous conspiracies, but in his last effort, he fell into a trap and joined the caravan of martyrs. We believe that the people of Afrin and Gever will remember Comrade Ali with respect and that the youth of Afrin and Gever will protect his memory.

We urge everyone, especially the youth and people of Afrin and Gever, to understand this great revolutionary, follow in his footsteps, and claim the resistance. We believe that Comrade Ali will live to the end in the freedom struggle and victory of North Kurdistan, as well as in the liberation struggle and freedom of Afrin, and that he will always command and lead this great struggle.”
