HDP holds workshop “Fighting against the Trustee Mentality” in Amed

The workshop in Amed was held as part of the preparations for the conference, which will be held under the slogan “Time to Overthrow the Trustee Regime and Build Democratic Local Governments.”

Tuncer Bakırhan, HDP Co-Chair of the Committee on Relations with NGOs and Political Parties, gave the workshop’s opening speech, which was attended by HDP elected officials and civil society dynamics.

Bakırhan provided information about the trustees’ damage while conducting reviews of the social dimension of the trustee regime, which has been in place since 2016.

Hediye Karaaslan, co-spokesperson for the HDP Democratic Local Administrations Board, delivered a presentation on the attacks by trustees.

The workshop discussed issues that occurred during the first trustee period and the struggle at the time, the similarities and differences of the 2016-2019 trustee processes, the transformation of the trustee regime into a continuous management form in Turkey, and solutions to overcome the trustee mentality.
