YJA Star guerrillas hit Turkish helicopters in Metina

The People’s Defense Forces (HPG) Press Centre reported the following details in a written statement about the actions by guerrillas and invasion attacks by the Turkish army in Kurdistan territory:

“In the Metina Region:

Between 20:30 and 23:00 on August 17, Turkish helicopter activity took place over the Qaşura line of the Metîna region. Around the same hours, guerrillas of the YJA-Star (Free Women’s Troops) targeted the Turkish attack helicopters that attempted to bomb the vicinity of the villages of Kêste and Hirore in the Kanî Masî sub-district of Amadiya district and Girê Martyr Çiya and Kela Qûmriyê areas. The helicopters took a hit and had to move away from the area.

On August 18 and 19, between 20:30 and 00:00, Turkish helicopter activity took place over the Qaşura line.

On August 19, between 10:05 and 10:10, the village of Şiyê in the Dinartê sub-district of Akrê district, was bombed four times by Turkish fighter jets.

Since the early hours of August 19, the vicinity of Kêste and Hirore villages of Kanî Masî sub-district of Amadiya district has been bombed with howitzers and mortars.

In Avaşîn region:

On August 19, between 10:00 and 22:00, the invading Turkish army used chemical weapons intensively against the battle tunnels in the Werxelê area. On the same day, the battle tunnels in the Girê Sor area were bombed with heavy weapons.

On August 19, between 10:00 and 22:00, the battle tunnels in the Werxelê area were bombed with explosives.

On August 19, between 22:30 and 01:30, Turkish helicopter activity took place over the areas of Mervanos, Banista, Tabura Ereba, Girê Sor, Girê Spî and Girê Silêman.

Intense Turkish drone activity continues in the area.”
