Kurds should unite, says Azadi Party Chair Aştî

Azadi Party Chair, Ayetullah Aştî, said that a common attitude should be taken against the invasion attacks by the Turkish state.

Speaking to the ANF, Aştî said that if there were a strong alliance between the Kurds in general, the invaders would not be able to act so easily. Pointing out that there are forces working to provoke an inter-Kurdish conflict, Aştî added: “Therefore, it is urgent that the Kurds make a deal among themselves. Whatever this agreement may be, it should be based on the sense of alliance and unity of the Kurds. One of our biggest problems is the lack of a national unity perspective. If we act away from this perspective, we will never be able to face our enemies. Today, our division as a people lies behind the invasion attacks. If we had at least ensured our unity in consciousness and ideology, maybe we would be in a much different place today.”

Arguing that the Kurds should, first of all, pursue a national policy, Aştî noted that in this way, Kurds could overcome major problems. Stating that the only concern of all Kurdish political parties should be Kurdistan, Aştî continued: “Kurdish politics should create a logic for itself. This logic should also include national interests. Rather than the demands of parties or institutions, the future of the Kurds and Kurdistan should be taken as a basis. Kurds should get to see the South Kurdistan administration as legitimate, and the administration should establish a language of unity with all Kurds. Because South Kurdistan belongs to all Kurds, not just one party or family. Only if we take these steps will we be able to oppose the invasion attacks.”
